As I looked out over the crowd of us all this morning I couldn't help but smile. So many of us gathered from different places with different languages, stories, and personal histories. Nonetheless here we are all together sharing one dream bringing all our disparate energies together into one movement. As our small groups gathered this afternoon my circle came up with many questions for our future. How can we partner with our wise sisters before we loose them, what will the values be which will guide us into the future, how can we apply the seventh generation principal to our decision making process now, what do we need to do to be open to receiving the next generation. These questions highlight the movement we are growing here, we have so much hope for our present as well as for future generations. Together we do believe we can live this life fully, and discover what God's gift from this transitional time period is for us and for the world.
The following are the Powerpoint slides from our 2 speakers - Teresa Maya and Sophia Park. Excellent content and resource for broadening our conversations.I would like to say that I have come to this meeting with happiness and with the hope to spend time together where we can share our journey as a young sisters from different communities. As the first reading yesterday where Jesus walked ahead with the two disciples and they asked him to stay with them, Now I want to ask God to be with us in this journey together.
Around 70 young women in all stages of initial and ongoing formation gathered at Kansas City Mo this weekend for the 2015 Giving Voice Conference. Sisters travelled from all over the country for this special national event. Some travelled for hours, others experienced all types of cancellations and delays, but all have come to celebrate the sisterhood we share in the Lord.
We had a prayerful moment as the national conference began. The prayer grounded us in this sacred space and brought us together as we reflected on our time together. Nicole Trahan, FMI is leading us in our opening ritual.
Today is the day!! Sisters under 50 are converging on Kansas City for the Giving Voice National Conference. Today we will share in an opening ritual and get acquainted with one another. Looking forward to tomorrow when we hear from our speakers and share in rich conversation. Kansas City will never be the same...
Here are 3 of our planning team (Jeannie, Chero and Nicole) helping at registration. Giving Voice is embarking on a process for future planning. At the conference, some time will be spent in conversation to discuss the needs of the future for the organization, as well as the needs of younger women religious. Attached here is a document (English/Spanish) that outlines the process with some questions for reflection. The Core Team needs to hear your voice!!
